Creatives Support Creatives
Behind every song is a network of creators made up of songwriters, composers, performers and producers. Getting TheMusicLicence means your business is valuing the work of those creators. By paying for a music licence, you are recognising creativity as work and investing back into the creative ecosystem that inspires your own business every day.
Because when music is valued, creativity flourishes.
Let music inspire
Music has the ability to fuel ideas in design studios, energise production offices, and create the atmosphere where creativity flows. Whether you’re building brands, creating visuals, developing games, shaping fashion, or producing content, music plays a powerful role in how ideas come to life.
Music can be used for more than just background noise,
It’s a creative tool and the right soundtrack can spark inspiration, improve focus, boost productivity and create an environment where people do their best work. For creative businesses, music could help shape culture and mood.

Creatives have their own story
More than background music
- Music is shown to improve mood, reduce stress and support sustained concentration, particularly in environments that rely on creative thinking and problem solving.
- “Music creates common ground. Team playlists, informal conversations about what people are listening to, or music-themed check-ins can strengthen connection without putting anyone on the spot.” – Debbie Green, Leadership Coach for PPL PRS.
- “The fact that 38% of retail workers turn to music to cope with burnout is unsurprising. Hearing your favourite song playing in store is such a mood boost and, in general, creates a fun, relaxing atmosphere to work in.”- Donna Gutteridge, Culture & Service Lead at Oliver Bonas
- “Music has always been my go-to reset to connect: it cuts through all the stress and clears my head.”- Joe Nixon, Co-Founder & Creative Director of design studio, Arch Creative
Music connects us all
- “In the workplace, we don’t often consider the soundtrack we have and will usually be so focused on tasks that music blends into the background. Yet considering how music can leave us feeling positive, less stressed and happier, it’s no wonder that the music we hear at work should also be doing that too.”- Marianne Rizkallah, Music Therapist for PPL PRS.
- According to our survey, 42% of workers said music helped to reduce their stress levels. Music can make people feel more positive, put them in the right frame of mind, and even help to lower blood pressure.
- Additionally, our survey found that 82.3% of people agreed that they would prefer a workplace that plays music when considering a new role, while just over 70% said music played at work makes them feel more engaged with the business.
- Over 90% of people said music makes them feel more confident, with particularly modern songs and songs from the 1990’s. Adding songs to your playlist that your employees know and enjoy can help to create a more positive space and add an extra boost to your team.

Shift the mood
In a recent PPL PRS survey, nearly all respondents agreed that different types of music affect their mood in different ways — i.e. some tracks lift their spirits, while others leave them feeling mellow. Almost two-thirds (63%) answered ‘yes definitely’ while 31% said ‘yes sometimes’.
