Success Story:

Sofology

Background

Sofology is one of the UK’s leading sofa retailers, specialising in offering quality products at great value.

Originally founded as CSL Sofa in 1974, the brand offers a range of products and designs, from traditional styles to modern pieces and made to order furniture.

Their mission is for everyone to ‘feel at home on a sofa they love’ and believe music can be an important part of the in-store experience for customers, as well their hard-working teams.

They recently re-introduced music to their 57 stores after listening to feedback from their team who said they would like to have licensed music back to help boost team morale and improve employee wellbeing.

It really matters to us that we know the right people are being paid for us using their music, it really sits with what Sofology is all about.”

Sofology is known for the quality and craftmanship across its range.  How do you use music to ensure this quality extends to your customer buying experience within your stores?

“We are really committed to the experience we give our customers in stores to making it feel like you’re at home on a sofa you love, and the music is a really big part of how we create that ‘at home’ feeling.” – Rochine

What effect does music have on your interactions and the overall customer service you provide?

“Having music in store has a massive impact on customers for sure, it keeps the energy up, it makes it a lot more positive, I think it really just takes the edge off the buying process and it just makes everything more fun.” – Torin

One of the main reasons for reintroducing music was employee feedback.  What difference does using music have to the team wellbeing and productivity?

“The Sofologists are a really important part of what makes us different, we think, to lots of other sofa retailers, and it really matters to us that they are excited to be at work, they’re passionate about what they are doing and they’re engaged.”  – Rochine

Sofology Still - Toren

Sofology have almost 60 stores all across the country, how easy did you find the process of buying a music licence to cover them all?

“We had a … online meeting and then within two weeks, we were live, which was fantastic. It’s been really flexible and it’s dead easy just having the one licence to cover all of our stores, our full estate – for our Sofologists, it’s been a really positive move for us. They’re much happier, they love it, we absolutely plan to stick with it and keep using licensed music in stores.” – Rochine
