Remember, remember the importance of music at Bonfire events

Remember, remember the fifth of November – the crackle of the bonfire, the smell of frying onions, and of course, the fireworks.

Remember the whistle of the catherine wheel, the glow of sparklers and the warmth of a hot drink on ice-cold hands – all of which make for an exciting and enjoyable occasion.

But aren’t you forgetting something?

A firework playlist to welcome visitors to an event perhaps?  What about an upbeat soundtrack to match your much anticipated firework display, or even a live band to keep people enjoying themselves through the night?

Whether it’s a small gathering on a village green or the large display in the city centre, music can help to make firework events even better!

Use music for a warm welcome

According to our recent survey, almost half of people said that playing music during a firework display was important when attending organised events, * while 44% said music at events makes them feel uplifted and makes the overall experience more enjoyable. *

Playing music at events this Bonfire Night can help to lift the mood, create a more welcoming atmosphere and help to make people feel more engaged.

It can help to create a more entertaining atmosphere too – for both adults and families alike.

In the same survey, 1 in 5 people said that the use of music can make events feel more family-friendly and around the same amount also said that music makes them want to stay for longer to enjoy the atmosphere. *

Music could give events a more professional feel too – particularly if music is played alongside the firework display, something which 52% said helps to make the firework display feel more impactful and entertaining. *

Rock-it with a firework themed playlist

Playing music, particularly music that suits your audience can help to make events feel more enjoyable and relatable.

Younger adults and teenagers, for example may enjoy hearing the latest chart hits, alongside some nostalgic classics, whereas for families-friendly events it may be a good idea to include some upbeat pop.

If an event is expected to attract a range of different people, you may even want to consider creating a bonfire themed playlist with songs related to fireworks, bonfires and autumn for everyone to enjoy.

By doing so, you can help to enhance the experience, put attendees in the right mood and help to keep them interested with an event – whether this be music that accompanies your event or additional entertainment such as live music or DJ sets.

Bonfire

Add some flair with live music or DJ sets

According to our survey, 64% said they would be willing to spend more on entry to an event if entertainment (such as live music, DJ set, music during) was included, while almost a third said live music and entertainment makes them feel more likely to attend an event and stay for longer.*

Using live music or DJ sets at Bonfire events this year could help to create an uplifting environment, boost the mood and create an atmosphere that people enjoy.

It can bring people together, give people another reason to go out and may be why they choose your event over others.

How is the cost calculated?

The cost of using music at a bonfire event varies depending on the type of music you use. For music used during firework displays (including outdoor light shows) the cost is usually calculated based on duration of event and attendees.
