PPL PRS and Bring The Paint bring music and art together for street art festival

Leicester’s Bring The Paint street art festival will once again transform the city streets with large scale pieces of public art between Monday 20th and Sunday 26th May, and PPL PRS are helping to add a little music to the event with live performances and a specially commissioned music themed piece of artwork.

The fourth instalment of the award-winning festival which boasts the largest line-up of internationally acclaimed street artists in the UK will attract thousands of visitors to the city over the seven days to witness the artists’ progress as they paint fresh locations and is shaping up to be the most ambitious yet. The festival will feature a huge selection of international, national, and local artists creating over thirty murals across the city as well as a host of exhibitions, workshops, live music events, street art tours and many other family friendly activities.

Bring The Paint street art festival has played a pivotal role in transforming Leicester’s public spaces. By decorating these areas with vibrant artworks the festival significantly enhances the city’s environment making it not only more visually appealing but also cleaner, safer, and more inviting. These improvements are achieved through collaborations between festival organisers and local developers, resulting in the creation of artworks on highly visible sites throughout the city.

This visually enriched environment fosters a sense of community pride and ownership, creating a positive impression on both residents and visitors. Moreover, the presence of these artworks in the city centre increases dwell time, encouraging people to spend more time outdoors engaging with the festival activities and supporting local businesses.

In addition to increasing Leicester’s visual appeal, the festival helps establish the city as one of the leading visual art destinations in the country. This reputation boosts the city’s cultural profile and supports its broader tourism and economic strategies.

Since the first festival in 2017, Bring The Paint has drastically reinvented the visual landscape of the city; creating one of the largest free open air galleries in the world for all to enjoy and showcasing the all-round benefits of large scale public artwork.

This year world renowned artists from Canada, Australia, Germany, Italy, Portugal, The Netherlands, Brasil, Switzerland, France, and the UK will be continuing the transformation with headline artists including SOFLES, SMASH, TAPS & MOSES, SUPER A, NUNO VIEGAS, FLYING FORTRESS, KINOS, KID ACNE, 45rpm, YARD WARRIORS, ERWTJE, JO-BER and SMUG.

This year’s festival is generously sponsored by Arts Council England, BID Leicester, Leicester City Council, De Montfort University, PPL PRS Ltd, Platform Housing, Jake & Nayns and Mills Nutrients and is inspired by Leicester’s identity as one of the most diverse cities in Europe enabling us to build on the theme of collaboration, bringing together artists from across the world who would not normally meet, empowering them to re-imagine this vibrant destination and give the public a chance to witness the spectacular works being created first hand.
